As defined by Nepal Rastra Bank, microfinance is the financial services rendered to the deprived groups and small entrepreneurs in saving, credit, remittance, micro insurance etc. to help them in developing self – employment opportunities and various income generating activities.
From above definition, it has been clearly recognized that microfinance is a proven successful instrument poverty lessening activities which became an important issue for global context as well as for Nepal. Despite of difficult topography, remoteness, heterogeneous groups and cultures in Nepal, microfinance institutions are successfully delivering financial services to the target groups.
Asha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (ALBSL) was established on 2073 Baisakh 05 and started its operation from 2073 Bhadra 01, with the objective to deliver financial services to deprived women and unemployed youth. We are offering various types of products to our valuable customers. Our saving products include regular, monthly, group and recurring type of savings. Loan products comprises group loan for members, collateral loan for members and non-members, entrepreneur loan for generating self employment, education loan and foreign employment loans. Besides this, ALBSL is effectively providing services like remittance, financial literacy and entrepreneurship development training programs to members. We are committed to modify our existing products & services and to introduce new products & services as per the market requirement and also upon receiving direction from the central bank, Nepal Rastra Bank.
We have enhanced our boundary nationwide very rapidly by establishing 55 branch networks in 29 districts within three years of our operation. This is the result of our supportive board of directors, dedicated management teams and hardworking field staffs. Finally, I would like to thank our promoters, board members, stakeholders and regulators for their valuable support and guidance. I hope to receive such support and guidance in future too.
